Life insurance rates for new members start at under $50 a year.

New members who joined MTA on or after August 1, 2007, are eligible for a new Group Voluntary Term Life Insurance program. Offered through Boston Mutual Life Insurance Company, this program offers protection at affordable rates. For example, a new member under 35 years of age can buy $50,000 of life insurance for just $4 a month or $100,000 of coverage for just $8 per month. Spouse and child coverage is also available. Members under age 40 who apply within their eligibility period can get up to $100,000 of coverage without medical questions or evidence of insurability.*
